Welcome!

I devised this "Cranes of Thanks" project because I love origami, working with children, and the "heroes" that defend our country!  I am teaching youth to fold paper origami cranes which will be placed on a coloring page with a letter on the back to be sent to our soldiers overseas.  This project will continue until we have completed 1,000 Cranes of Thanks!  All of the supplies have generously been funded by DoSomething.org.

Cranes of Thanks at YOUR location!

I have taught classes at libraries, homeless shelters, and homeschool co-ops and am in the process of contacting churches, daycares, classrooms, and scout troops.  As a homeschool student, I am mostly available during weekdays and some weekends.

YOUNG CHILD GROUPS:

  • Project time could be about an hour, depending on the ages and the number of children taught at one time.
  • Children younger than 12 will not be taught to fold origami cranes - the process is very time consuming and most need individual help at every step.
  • Any child who can write is welcome to participate (for smaller groups, children who cannot write can dictate their letter to a helper.)
  • Will teach groups of 10-50 children.  (Please contact me if you have more or fewer children, we may be able to work something out.)

TEEN GROUPS:

  • Class scheduling is flexible, could last about an hour but I can come for longer periods of time depending on the number of teens.
  • Groups of teens 10 or fewer can learn to make origami cranes and handmade cards.
  • Groups of 10 or more teens will be provided with a pre-folded origami crane to attach to their handmade card and letter.
  • If it is important for your group of 10 teens or more to learn the origami crane, please contact me and we may be able to work something out.
